There are many reasons for people in the healthcare profession to study a foreign language. Whether it is to strengthen current language skills or to start from the beginning to better understand your patients or to gain knowledge of medical practices in other parts of the world, studying a foreign language is a valuable life skill. A number of language schools offer programs that are designed to meet the needs of students or professionals in the healthcare field. Most schools offer general language instruction combined with one-on-one tutorials in medical vocabulary. Some schools are able to organize visits to medical facilities and opportunities to meet with local health care professionals and in some cases, arrange for clinical experiences.
